Description

The 102 was first made by Stanley in 1877. Our version is hand cast in manganese bronze with straight parallel sides at 90° to the sole for addition use with a shooting board. The cap iron is also manganese bronze. The blade is our PM-10V superior tool steel ground flat with a 25° primary  bevel. It is 32mm wide and a class leading over 4mm thick. The blade sits firmly on a 12° precision machined bed. It is fitted with our exclusive unobtrusive Howard adjuster for silky smooth blade adjustment. Manganese bronze often reveals small casting blemishes on machining, part of the character and not affecting performance in any way.

The plane is 135mm long and 41mm wide. It weighs 500 grams.

A small pocket sized plane with a grand performance.

102 Low angle Block plane

Have never owned such a plane before. Purchased mainly for Lutherie work as I am currently making an acoustic guitar. I appreciate quality things and upon receiving this item that belief holds true. It was this or the Lei Nielsen equivalent. I chose this because it’s Australian made and also I wanted the ability to use it on a small shooting board. This one has perfectly squared sides as opposed to the Lie Neilson which has curved sides. For me that made this plane more versatile.
In all respects it’s a beautiful looking and made tool. It fits my hand perfectly.
Would recommend to anyone wanting a high quality tool for fine wood working uses.

No 102 what a beauty

I loved this little plane, from the moment I opened the box, it felt like it was ment to be used. From just chamfering to cleaning up the the joints of a small box across the end grain it has been a friend. i can see it remaining out of it's leather case and in my apron whenever I'm in the workshop. Thanks for a well made tool that I know will outlive me
